Branding is how we tell one company's products from another, and it seems that every brand has its loyal advocates. PC people can't understand why Mac users love their Apples, and vice versa. The reputation that began with the Suunto compass has continued to grow and to command quite a large following. Devotees can be found around the world.
When it comes to wrist top computers, Suunto lovers are a diehard breed. (Yes, these excellent products that we call watches are actually complex computers, engineered for very specific purposes and designed to look really great on your wrist). Really, who can blame us? Suunto has:
- won the "red dot: best of the best" award in the red dot award: product design 2008 competition in Germany for the Suunto Core
- received the 2008 "National Geographic Adventure" Best Adventure Gear award for the Lumi
- been honored by "Men's Journal" as Gear of the Year (2008) for the Core wrist top computer
- been named Diving Brand of the Year (2007) by the readers of "UK Diver" magazine
- earned the "Runner's World" ispo Award (2007) for the Suunto t4
Not that we're bragging, of course. But isn't it good to know that we're not the only ones who think Suunto is the best?
Not Your Grandpa's Suunto Compass
Used to be compasses just kept you pointed in the direction you wanted to go. They still do that, no doubt, but the technology that made wrist top computers possible means that today's compass does a whole lot more. It allows you to set the declination of the compass for your local area, and very easily, too. Setting a bearing with the Suunto compass function is even easier: just point the top of the watch in the direction you want to go, lock it, and you're done. Or you can do it the old-fashioned way, using the rotating bezel. In any case, you can be sure that Suunto won't let you down.
