Vector - A revolution on your wrist.
When the Vector debuted in 1998 it was an absolute revolution in the
capabilities of a classic sports wrist watch. It was such a departure
from tradition that a whole new term had to be coined. Hence the birth
of the Suunto Vector "wristop computer". With its iconic good looks and
astonishing array of features it remains to this day the absolute
benchmark for outdoor equipment. You can find it on the wrist of some
of the most visible outdoor athletes and even as an accessory on Mark
Wahlberg's wrist in the movie Shooter (I know it is sad but we notice these things). People will instantly recognize
the Vector's shape and marvel at the functionality. It has been an
extemely popular watch and continues to be the best seller for Suunto,
for good reason, yet still manages to carry the aura of high-end,
exclusive kit.
The reputation the Vector possesses is well deserved. Underneath that
iconic shell lies the all-around outdoor enthusiast's must have list of
functions: altimeter, barometer, temperature reading, digital compass
and so much more. The altimeter is an astonishing function. It has a
range up to 9,000m or 29,500 ft. It will also track your vertical
progress and stores your ascent/descent rates at every hour over a 24
hour memory period. Additionally, the internal logbook will keep track
of your cumulative ascents and descents which is great for tracking the
number of ski runs in between beers at the lodge. The electronic
compass is equally impressive with the ability to set declination (very
important feature) and bearing track to keep you moving in your chosen
direction. It also displays normal time (naturally) in either 12 or 24
hour format, has three daily alarms, a calendar programmed to the year
2089, a stopwatch with split time measurement and a countdown timer.
The Vector is one of the most spectacular examples of design
execution in existence. If you are looking for a do-it-all tool which
garners instant respect and is user-friendly in a stunning case then
you need to put a Vector on your wrist. Just don't call it a
watch...its a wristop computer - thank you very much.
